Odyssey 24B Issues

We just got home after two weeks into out 6-week cross country journey.  Reason, the slide stopped working in the middle of nowhere.  It took two days to get an RV tech out to help us retract the slide in far enough to travel.  Did I mention that our motorhome was less than 11 months old at the time?

The slide had given me some problems in July, by not retracting, but it seemed to work out the problem, maybe it recalibrated?  This time it extended evenly for about 18" getting slower with every inch.  We were plugged in to shore power at the time, so it should of had plenty of power.  The levelers were also down at the time.  When I tried to retract it it made some grinding noise from the front of the slide.  I stopped there and waited for the tech.  He finally arrived and tried to extend the slide, more noise and then tried retracting again with noise.  After several attempts he at least brought the top in most of the way.  The bottom remained out about and inch and a half.  He told us we were ok to travel.  He said that he didn't have the equipment, facility, parts or time to work on it.

Made it home and went to visit a local repair company.  They could not even look at the motorhome until November 29th.
In addition to the slide we have had door issues, rattling and not closing all of the way, a slide window that catches the air and bows out a 1/4 inch even though the bottom and top of the window are tight against the wall, various leaks mostly involving loose connections to the water heater, a recurring furnace vibration when in use, the hood vent is latched with the retaining clips, but still rattles as we travel, the gas water heater sounds like a blast furnace and is sooting up the outside wall and is not adjustable,
I called and got on the recall list for the local Jayco/Entegra dealer in February for the leveling system recall, but have not been contacted with a date and time to fix it.  I call occasionally and they keep telling me I am on the list.  The Ford engine cover recall is still outstanding, local dealers will not look at so I have to drive 90 miles to a Ford Truck Center.  No, I am not a happy camper :(

I also belong to the FB owner’s group and numerous (at least 9) others have slide issues, all with the same age of motorhome.  I am surprised that there are not more complaints on this forum.    Someone suggested that we shouldn't use the cabinets in the slide for storage and that weight is causing my issue.  It might be a weight issue, but the unit was designed with at least 80% of the storage space in the slide, the double door 3' deep pantry, two very large doors, the cabinets above the bed, the cabinets above the dinette and the storage areas under the dinette.  If there is a weight issue, place a warning label on it like the over cab bunk has.

Sorry I am ranting it’s because I cannot seem to get anything done.  I emailed Jayco customer service and still have not heard back other then they requested my VIN.

Had Slide issue on my maiden trip.  Slide worked good until it didn't, then would only go out about a foot, but luckily it came back in.  Since we would be in Jayco/Entegra country I made an appointment with them and they sourced me out to a RV repair facility in Shipswanna, Indiana .  The shop was able to fix my slide and also put in a steel plate under the forward bed roller to help with the load.  They told me that the slide design was poor, not robust enough and they had let Jayco/Entegra know.  Oh yea fresh water pump failed, had that replaced.  And to put the icing on the cake I took a hit on the big window in the sleeping area over the cab which developed a crack.  That is another story/huge hassle.  Yea I also have to drive 60 miles for any Ford warranty work, none of the Ford dealers locally will touch my 24B......takes up too much room.  The Joy of RV ownership!
