Entegra Aspire Rollover Crash Aftermath

WOW  :o

Short video of what an Entegra Aspire looks like after a rollover crash.  Sure hope everyone is OK.  The cockpit looks fine but the rest of it really came apart, even the roof is missing.

The selected media item is not currently available.

Oh my goodness!  It looks like the cab area is still intact so hopefully there were no injuries.  It appears to have come to rest awfully close to a utility pole as well.

That is scary !!!  Sure hope everyone is OK.

A rollover would make one assume (there is that word) it was a tire or mechanical failure.  Either way its makes me go and look over my tires and check their inflation levels, always good PM.

Got some more info on this .... The crash occurred on I-75 just north of Macon, GA, cause was a passenger front tire blowout.

The drivers walked away pretty much unharmed.  They had 3 dogs that are also fine, but they their cat did not survive the crash.

The above video shows some of the cleanup effort, after righting the coach it had to be hauled away in chunks.

So glad they were able to walk away, boy is the coach a mess, the video in the first post shows how it really broke apart.

Tire blow outs have to be one of the most frighting things that can occur and the experts say your first instance, braking, is the wrong thing to do.  But even after the blowout, assuming you initially get it under control, you still have to get it to the side somehow.  Scary for sure.

Does anyone have thoughts on whether or not a Safe-T-Plus steering control add-on would have helped prevent this?

Model #41-230 | Safe-T-Plus - The Steering Control Specialists

I saw this on the Great Escape YouTube channel with Glenn and Julia who document their travels in their Entegra Anthem.

They have a few testimonials on their website from customers who suffered a blowout. I'm wondering if it is worth it.

Glenn has a great channel ... lots of good info.

I have used the Safe-T-Plus unit in the past and found them to be very effective in preventing wandering, one of my previous RV's would "rut track" very badly and adding this reduced it it to about zero.

The Safe-T-Plus resists rapid / sudden changes (and I'm taking faster than you can turn the wheel fast) so during a blow out it would certainly help in preventing having the wheel get pulled away from you.  I don't think its available for all models of Entegra, but it is for the Anthem and for the year of Aspire for this coach.

So IMO of course, its a great item to add if one is available for you specific coach and year.  It made the driving of mine much more pleasurable, and it will help in the event of a front blowout ... and in those cases any help is welcome.

Thanks for the question and info on the Safe-T-Plus ... going to look more closely at that option.
